I’ve tried to ascertain particulars for the exact faith of MAGA, and ended with a rather dark unified theory, where regards seeing the nation-state for the forests. No crazier than published stories concerning this Presidential administration’s actions and inaction, in fact it may well explain much of that while apparently being unvoiced and thus unexplored. Feels a bit like the explanatory note to be drifting in space for any aliens happening upon the rubble of our world. What I present will win me no friendships anywhere, but that’s really not the point.
MAGA is arguably the matter of carjacking American Christendom toward not merely a Christian Nationalism, but the Positive Christianity of the Nazis, which accepted that ego taken as the will of god need never turn the other cheek. And not to promote Nazism or Republicanism or anything else, but of using and abusing the resource of others to self-assure unregulated fiefdoms for private interests be the replacement to Church and State.
Much has been written on the hypocrisies of MAGA’s Christianity, notably their attacking empathy and demonizing efforts toward virtue-signaling. The seven Cardinal virtues observed by Roman-Catholics however, boil down to denying ego. And so the counterparts in the seven deadly sins boiling down to indulging ego, whether one’s own or one’s ideal, are by all accounts the prerogative of MAGA fellowship. Proudly so. Granted, the game of “If we are not celebrated for trying to infringe the civil or basic human rights of others then our imaginary rights to do so are being infringed upon” was invented by the Holy See, I feel I have pinpointed the exact theology they obsessively convey, where ego only ever bows to greater ego.
The Ku Klux Klan has always likened itself as a different denomination of Christianity, but it lacks the right doggerel for today’s self-inclined, lacks any pathway to enrichment whatsoever. In trying to wrap my head around the faith of MAGA, I wondered at inspiration possibly arriving from Positive Christianity for how the MAGA faith presents itself, the denomination begat by the Nazis before realizing they could simply sign a peace deal with the then-Pope.
PC was and remains a contrived faith which downplayed the divine while playing up the worldly success of Christ as leader of men. Heavenly rewards here and now for the might-making-right ethos of rapists and murderers and bankers, essentially, with sacrifice the stuff of Betas and all returning to the world stage when the Prosperity Doctrine finally reached the Vatican in opposition to the purported liberalism of Pope Francis. So, God’s gift and everyone else step aside, precisely as Peter Thiel lectures in his obsession with selling charity work as demonic. Domestic evangelicalism is widely prone to believing temptation only arrives from the people, places and things which the devout already happen to personally dislike. Taken to the Nth degree, this presents no cause for following the Commandments whatsoever, with even the Garden of Eden story made meaningless because there can be no salvation by the assertions of such adherents, but to take it. If imposing one’s will upon others is interpreted as benevolence, then the personal responsibility required of free will, any personal sacrifice, is rendered altogether unimportant. Nothing need be earned. Ego itself regarded as the very will of god to be enacted, is MAGA defined, spittle et al. And shouting all-caps for its esteem to be the lone priority of the world, contrary to the meek inheriting much of anything.
If the typical MAGA follower can listen to any Trump rally or speech and hear anything other than nonsense and lies, it is highly likely that typical MAGA follower, Christian though they insist on being seen as, has no fucking idea what was in Christ’s Sermon on the Mount. From leadership to the followers themselves, if they seriously believe that their views really represent the majority of Americans, then clearly they would be every part and parcel as clueless should their own beliefs get repurposed. This is precisely the language and tone needed for completing their fissures. Can any MAGA pundit explain how they are not Positive Christians, from cause to effect?
All aside these are evidently mere tools or toys or weapons for them, Knights of the Golden Circle not Golden Rule, with the real endgame quite bluntly bent not to advance any persuasion of church or state or industry, but of assuring that unregulated fiefdoms be the replacement to all, for all. Mediaite’s Colby Hall wrote in his post-SOTU piece that “The institution no longer disciplines the personality. The personality colonizes the institution.” Seen in effect days later as Congress blocks release of its own sexual harassment complaints. It’s the madness to the method- consider the utter lack of differentiation between current interpretations of free market economics, and Aleister Crowley’s “Do what thou wilt is the whole of the Law” on or off Little Saint James Island.
And it very much is in progress, because the one and only thing which unites Americans is the conviction that nothing can be more offensive than for one’s fantasies to go unindulged, to the painful extent that all sacrifice is the concern of others, for others to make the sacrifices or for others to be the sacrifices whether Palestinian or Israeli or one’s own living embryo; everyone with a gated community physical or ideological they’d gladly toss the rest of reality for. That part amplified with the DIY segregation serving as business model for every online social, sadomasochists empowering idiots to block out all things personally uncomfortable or unfamiliar, proving so popular everyone demands no less from news and schools and strangers offline. When nothing in all of the human experience is more subjective than love, there is no such Earthly thing as being good, although there is such a thing as doing good. The algebra for which has been known since the Gnostics, how the very crux to all problem-solving from microcosm to macrocosm is understanding that what anybody wants is never more important than what anybody else needs. In all my years and travels everyone in this country maintains exceptions in mind, or very, very vocally. There was never opposition among a peoples obsessively running from ego-death. Over 300 million people acting in self-interest round the clock, while unironically waiting for their own imaginary idealization of The Good Guys to do the heavy lifting of cleaning after them. Maybe, the American dream was never anything better than an excuse from accountability, one’s own predilections of biases, desires, fetishes, quirks, whims and wishes always mattering more than the idea of simply not manifesting problems for others.
While the lone function of truth serves something other than flattery, nothing but pure arrogance claims such a thing as personal truth. Yet with all being ready and willing for entitling themselves to reach for whichever privilege and luxury society offers but never its blames or burdens, there can be no national course-correction from the rubble of self-contradictions aplenty, until the greater majority of citizenry embraces the reality that it took everyone to grow a shit-stain so thick.
